The meeting place (2pm) is at Byrds. (www.byrdsadventurecenter.com) ph # is (479) 667-4066. Byrds is a riverside retreat with camping and a convenience store. They have inner-tubes, canoes or rafts available for a trip down the Mulberry River. This place is very reasonable and all the prices are listed on their website. Reservations for everything are a good idea. Next, (for those that want) Byrd’s will have a 1 hour zip line tour. You start on a platform in the trees and hook up your harness and slide on a rope through the trees to another platform. Basically your group (one at a time) zips platform to platform on a tour down the hillside through the trees. So cool. This is all safely done with Outward Bound qualified guides. There will be a fee for this TBD. Byrd’s regularly host jeep crawls were trucks and jeeps with big tires climb over rock piles. If you have never seen it, it’s cool. If you have seen it, you want to see it again. There will be a special jeep crawl during our visit so that we can enjoy the spectacle. (free) Then the group will have a catered dinner at 6 pm (available for those that want to participate). Long Road sign in will be at the catered dinner. Find Jack before you get in line and sign in if you are on the Long Road. Approximate cost for the dinner is $ 12 and that includes a drink. The menu will be posted at a later date. Dinner will be in front of the stage (on the grounds) and live Bluegrass (or maybe something else) music will wind up the evening. (free) So come join the BAKER Crew, get your grub on and enjoy some good music after a fun filled day! Beer will be for sale on the grounds. This is the one of two stops that I would really suggest everyone camp. Byrd’s is primarily a campground and it is such a cool, easy place to hang out you will want to stay. There are tons of sheltered picnic areas on the grounds so even a bit of rain will not cause much of a problem. When it is time to leave you can take a right out of the campground and go east on 215 to the “T” in the road. Go right at the “T” and you will hit I-40. This is a nice scenic road that does not take you out of the way. If you decide not to camp there are hotels available in Ozark. (still exit # 35, go approx. 3 miles South instead of North on 23.) Oxford Inn, ph. (479) 667-1131, www.oxfordinnozark.com Ozark Inn, ph. (479) 667-1500, www.ozarkinn.net (staff here) The other Ozark exit (exit # 37) has a Day’s Inn, ph. (479) 667-2530 Clarksville is the next exit down (exit # 58) and there are also several hotels there: Quality Inn and Suites -ph. (479) 754-3000 Hampton Inn -ph. (479) 754-4444 Holiday Inn Express -ph. (479) 705-7600
